Yes, it’s spring forward…but here in LA, it’s more like fast-forward to summer.
The sun is blazing and it’s about time to bust out the tanks, shorts, and beachwear for some weekend fun! Well, it’s still a bit too chilly for me to go to the beach, but it’s perfectly fine to wander the city in a sleeveless top!
There’s always cafe-style brunch where you can eat well and people-watch. A couple of my faves are Taste on Melrose and Griddle Cafe. You never know who’s sitting next to you…an actor, a producer, firefighters…such is life.
I’m out enjoying the sunshine and you should too! =)

It’s a long post…but it’s useful! =)
I’ve been hunting for basics this month. Workout gear, camisoles, undergarments, slips, and stockings. They are things we wear almost everyday, yet the majority of these garments go unseen. They are the workhorses of our wardrobe and the foundation to make ordinary clothing look seamless, polished, and presentable.
As a petite, it is always a challenge to find clothes that fit properly, but these basics sometimes are even more difficult to uncover. You have to sort through so many stores, websites, and catalogs to find that one item with potential and when you first encounter it, it might not seem so great until you put it on.
Still, all that effort is rewarded with a perfect or almost perfect garment. There might be some minor adjustments to be made, but it’s worth it.
Since these are basics, we usually buy them in multiple and with that comes another obstacle. Price. How can we purchase these basics without breaking the bank?
For me, I’ve discovered a set of stores and brands that work well for my body type as well as my wallet. So, I’m sharing a sliver of my recent search into basics. Let me know what are other good brands and stores to try for petites!

I love warm weather!
But no outdoor outfit posts…I feel silly standing in front of a tripod and I don’t have a photographer that can travel with me. So, indoor shots once again.
I’m wearing purple circle lenses, (Geo Angels) but you can’t really tell the color, it just doesn’t look brown. I’ve been shopping my closet lately since I haven’t been buying clothes. In fact, I’m stocking up on basics instead like slips, undergarments, stockings, etc. And accessories, I’m loving my straw hats…I can’t believe I never thought of wearing them until last summer!
By the way, I love the length of this Forever 21 skirt. It’s quite rare for me to find a flattering skirt that isn’t down to my knees! I don’t know what it is, perhaps it’s because I have “athletic” legs, but I tend to favor the flared A-line skirts instead of pencil skirts or tight minis.
What’s your favorite skirt style: straight, tapered, a-line, and/or flared?

I’m still waiting to see Alice in Wonderland. It definitely has the old Tim Burton charm to it, but I’m not sure if it’s going to be amazing or just another film. As much as I love his movies, they’re getting the point where it’s the same old tricks which lead to lackluster productions like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Corpse Bride.
But who am I to tell Tim Burton to be more creative?
For myself, I need to be more creative with my outfits. I’m still sticking to neutrals lately (this time it’s navy)…can’t seem to get out of that rut.

Some days, I just want to be outside and take a random walk through the streets of LA. I dragged some of my friends with me for a nighttime photo session down Abbott Kinney Blvd. They didn’t want me to post up their photos, so we’ll leave them out.
As we were walking around, we noticed that the atmosphere are night is much more calmer than it is in the day. You notice the oddities and disparities of the boutiques, cafes, and other stores. They’re all mish-mashed together in random order as if some time traveled to arrive at this street and others were transported from another part of the US.

Running around all day makes it difficult to sit down and write in a cohesive manner, but I’ll do my best.
I got an eye exam the other day and my prescription went down a little. It’s a good thing and I hope that whatever I did, it’ll continue decrease my myopia. Though I am hoping to get Lasik sometime in the near future, I figure I should wait until my eyes settle and see if they’ll be better on their own. I guess being out of college has some benefits!
Spring is on its way and I’m scrambling to get the most out of my winter wardrobe. I figured I should get some mileage out of my mom’s wool skirt before it gets too warm. It’s not often that I tuck the top into my skirt because I think it makes my torso look too short. But somehow, it works. And the skinny belt adds a necessary pop of color.
By the way, I got my D&G heels from the Decades Two sale this past summer. They had shoes ranging from size 5 to 10+. Usually, I go for size 6, but I stumbled onto this suede pair and magically they fit even though they’re 5.5. The heels run a bit narrow, but they’re quite comfy. I’ve been staying away from all things shoes because I don’t need any more shoes.
Here’s to a great start for March!

I already professed my love of nautical gear recently, but how about mixing styles?
Downtown chic meets French sailor.
Outfit Details: Madewell Breton tunic XS, Pencey moto vest XS, Pacsun capris 00, Forever 21 fish pendant, Corso Como boots
I was absolutely aching for the Pencey moto vest in an old post and I’m glad I make the purchase because the (silk) material makes it more interesting than a leather one. Plus, I didn’t find any biker jackets, denim vests, and other moto paraphernalia that accentuated my figure in a positive way. Most were boxy, loose, and chunky even if I somehow managed to find the right size.
If you haven’t already noticed, I’m making an effort to add some detail shots in conjunction with the outfit pictures. At times, it’s difficult to see the details and it kind of helps with a closer eye. Plus, I’m figuring out how to capture a certain moodiness that makes the photo more “powerful” but I’m not quite sure if I’m there yet.
It’s another month closer to spring and I’m preparing for beach season with an increase in workouts. I’m be slowing down the spending in all areas for March and I’m a bit shopped out. There hasn’t been much to catch my eye as of late, which is good for my wallet and it gives me more opportunity to reconnect with my closet and find new outfits that I hadn’t thought of before.
