Bloggers Cafe 911

October 25, 2010

Fashion thrives in all situations and due to unforeseen circumstances, the runway presentations of several designers moved to a smaller venue. Fashion Los Angeles, with the cooperation of Two Point Oh! LA hosted “Bloggers’ Cafe 911” at Fashion Los Angeles headquarters. The loft location provided an intimate setting for bloggers, journalists, photographers, and designers to interact on a personal level.

Three designers, Ahn Volcek, Paulina Lopez, and Daisy Gonzalez showcased several looks from their Spring/Summer 2011 collection.

L’une

Ahn Volcek of L’une drew inspiration from her friends for her Spring/Summer 2011 collection. With dark cocktail dresses and simple opera length gowns, each piece incorporated the stylistic preferences of her friends. From sequins to feathers, the silhouette of the designs hug a woman’s body. Additionally, the use of coral and leaf prints wrapped around the dresses reflects the idea that, “If you stand still long enough, a tree will grow around you.” As the first collection of L’une, this debut provides a glimpse into the creative aesthetic of Ahn’s designs.

Paulina Lopez

Paulina Lopez hails from Mexico City and created a collection called “Rainbow” to remind herself that dreams come true. The fairytale theme in candy colors is complemented with bold, macramé accessories. Each color has a significance, such as green for hope and yellow for light. Grecian-inspired draping, basket-weave details, and tiered ruffles in show-stopping gowns echoed a sense of risk-taking and femininity.

Daisy Gonzalez

Daisy Gonzalez’s collection is inspired by the Spring season. She imitates the airy lightness and dramatic, majestic transition of the seasons in the clothes. The collection oozes with an underlying sensuality featuring luxe brocade fabrics and sheer metallic pieces .

Frank Garcia of Efgee Designs provided the bold accessories for Daisy’s collection. The over-the-top chunky cocktail rings and cuffs added drama to the regal-infused clothing. With antique metallic designs and earthy crystal settings, the accessories enhanced the aura of sophistication and elegance.

Saturday’s fashion presentation not only allowed three designers to show their Spring collections but to give hope to artists that there are networks and organizations that will support them.
