For most of my life, Halloween wasn’t a big deal.
When I was young, I wore old ballet costumes when I went trick-o-treating. Plus, I’d only get to eat 10 pieces of candy while the rest got dumped to “protect my teeth from cavities”.
As I got older, I didn’t even try. In college, during our team audition day on Halloween, we dressed up to ease everyone’s nervousness. I picked such lame costumes like a doctor in scrubs, a lab technician, or a housewife who wears curlers and a bathrobe. Once, I was a “Spongebob” sandwich board…and that wasn’t a pretty sight.
Many of my friends love Halloween, it’s an opportunity to be someone else for the day. Sure, some pick up questionable costumes from those seedy adult stores on Hollywood. Others go dramatic with makeup or faux injuries. And still others are clever and witty with their costume designs.
For some reason, this year, I wanted to have a costume.
I wanted to step out of my comfort zone but that doesn’t mean I’ll be tramping around town. It had to be something specific, recognizable, and yet, it couldn’t be what everyone was going to be.
This was my Project Runway costume challenge. Two days to sew with a budget of $150, create your costume masterpiece!
It look a lot of work and scouting around for the right fabrics and colors, but I think I did alright. If I had a better wig and more time, it’d probably look even better.

If you haven’t seen the superhero satire film, Kickass, then I guess you wouldn’t know the character that I was imitating. But if you do, I was Hitgirl. At the Halloween Carnaval, I was determined to find my superhero companion and he looks just like the guy in the movie!
Anyways, here are some other notable costumes from Sunday.

You had a more action packed filled Halloween than I did this year! Nice costume and I’m glad you weren’t one of the millions of girls wearing costumes that come out of a mass manufactured bag. LOL to the Moaning Lisa, what a stud .. I mean lady.
I almost didn’t recognize you! (I guess that’s a good thing?
) Haven’t seen the movie so not sure what you’re supposed to look like, but I oddly like the purple hair on you
And I’d have to say my favorite Facebook “costume” is still this one by Jim on The Office
