Review: Superdry Moody Bomber Jacket

Superdry. Beverly Center. Los Angeles, CA.

Mission: Find a warm and stylish coat that can handle winter weather conditions.

Superdry is a British brand that combines vintage Americana with Japanese streetstyle. Ever since David Beckham sported the Osaka t-shirt and Brad leather jacket, Superdry has risen in popularity while maintaining an underground following.

The pièce de résistance is the Superdry outerwear collection. With a variety of leather jackets, anoraks, and military-inspired pieces, each item is carefully designed with a strong focus on construction, versatility, and craftsmanship.

My first encounter with Superdry was at the pop-up shop on Hollywood and Highland. It was refreshingly different and I reviewed several  Superdry outerwear pieces.

The Moody Bomber Jacket appears smaller than the other coats and jackets with a simple, streamlined look.

Upon further examination, more details are discovered. The side pockets have a snap flap closure, but the flap can also be tucked into the pocket and zipped up. The double collar is joined by three snap buttons and can be separated. The dual zipper comes in handy to protect your neck while still looking stylish.

In Small, the jacket fits well in the shoulders and body. There is room for a thick sweater underneath without looking bulky or overwhelming. The sleeves are long, but it is manageable with the ribbed cuff.

Measurements:

  • Shoulders – 13.5″
  • Waist –  14″
  • Sleeve Length – 23″
  • Overall Length – 22″

Outfit Details: Superdry Moody Bomber Jacket (find it here)- S, Forever 21 striped top – S, LOFT pencil skirt – 00P, DKNY brown tights – XS, GAP trouser socks, Nordstrom B.P. scarf, Tullette (via Fred Flare) beanie,  Forever 21 boots

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Whoa, what a badass jacket. I really like it! It looks warm but not too bulky. I think it’d be great for skiing/snowboarding too.

@Mandi: I agree, the thicker double lining makes the coat a lot warmer so I can go to colder places without feeing like I’m freezing.

@Really Petite: Thanks! I’m loving grey accessories lately! =)

@Cee: The jacket is amazing, I didn’t think about wearing it for snow sports, but that would be a great experiment!

    @MizzJ: That’s exactly why I love this jacket! =)

@Katrina: I’m surprised that it fit so well because most other brands have it really loose but this one fit so well!

Thanks! I love how it’s an unusual color for the animal print. It just looks so unique! =)

for a winter jacket how warm did you find it?

    • admin December 5, 2013, 6:08 pm

I’d say the bomber jacket is warm enough for fall weather, but it’s not insulated enough for a winter jacket.
