Over the weekend, I donated a trunk of clothes that my family and I harbored for the past 4+ years to The Salvation Army. It was a cathartic process as I’ve finally edited down my closet to a manageable level (less than 250 items total!) so it all fits quite spaciously in my half closet and dresser.
With that said, I’m appreciating the items I have remaining with a strong desire to make the most out of each and every piece. Therefore, I’m taking on Kendi’s 30 for 30 challenge. Kendi of Kendi Everyday established a challenge in which you remix 30 items for 30 days with a no-shopping ban. It’s right up my alley since I already went through January without a new purchase and I’m hoping February will be the same.

A little bit about me for all you new followers and visitors:
I’m Jess and I’m super petite standing at 5’1″ which pretty much means I wear the smallest sizes available…the negative sizes! But that hasn’t stopped me from finding great deals and stylish items to express my fashion personality. I hope you’ll join me over the next 30 days to see what outfits I’ll create and how I mix and match my items so that it looks like I have an infinite closet.
Without further ado, here are the 30 items I’ll be using for this remix challenge.
*Note: I’m leaving three items open as wildcards in case I need something extra that’s not already listed.

6. American Apparel dress / 7. Banana Republic tunic / 8. J.Crew silk skirt

What a fabulous necklace! Good luck with 30×30- it’s hard, but I have faith in you!
Good luck, Jess! It’s a wonderful challenge. I’d love to participate too but I am afraid I can’t commit to it. I am looking forward to see all your outfits
I love the 30×30 challenges! Can’t wait to see what you come up with.
Hi Jess, I’ve been reading petite blogs for a while now and I love your style, Yours is one of my favorites. I don’t have a blog but I think I’m doing the remix too.I need to stop shopping at least for a month.
Good luck with the challenge and I’ll be checking your outfits for inspiration. I love what you’re wearing in this post and the pose is super cute and chic. Keep doing such a great job.
Great choice of tops. I like the range of colours.
Good luck with the 30×30! There’s only so many combination you can make with 30 pieces, but I’m not good with math so I’ll let someone else figure it out. LOL

heyyy! i”m wearing the exact f21 leopard print gray cardi. haha.
have fun w/this challenge! I look forward to seeing your posts.
p.s. can you explain to me why certain stripes are called “breton” stripes? I dont get it.
Good luck with your 30 for 30 challenge!! I wish I was doing it this time around, but my schedule is quite crazy this time around, so I’m sitting this one out! But, I can’t wait to see how you remix your 30 pieces!!
Love your choices! Look forward to seeing your remixes.
Yay, your picks are up! Loving the stripes, florals, and badass bomber jacket. Can’t wait to follow your journey, Jess!
Oh I can’t wait to see your outfits!!! I like your picks! You are such a trooper- this challenge is too much for me..LOL
@Good Girl Gone Blog: Thanks for the support! I hope I make it through successfully!
@PetiteLittleGirl: I think the challenge isn’t too difficult since I only wear less than 20% of my closet so I hope to branch out and be more creative with my clothes and still look presentable.
@Simple Subtle Style: I hope I won’t be too boring throughout the challenge and I think I have a good mix of items to keep it fresh and fun!
@Ledda: Thanks for the compliment…I’m still trying to solidify my style but it’s nice to know that I’m on the right track. Good luck to you too for the shopping ban and remix, I’m sure you’ll come up with some beautiful outfits!
@The Little Dust Princess: I’ve been trying to figure out plan multiple outfits with each item but it got so large and messy that I decided not to plan ahead and just wing it. I’m hoping for no repeats though.
I’m so excited that you’re doing the remix. Your picks are classic with a little twist. What are you going to wear first?
@Aubrey: Yay we’re cardi twins! Breton stripes usually describe the typical sailor stripes, white and navy. But I think recently it’s used as a fancy term for a nautical striped top.
@Tiffany: I hope my remixes are as good as yours. I followed your remixes and they were so inspiring!
@Shen Dove: Thanks! I’m excited about the challenge!
@Cee: Thanks, after watching from the sidelines a few times now, it’s about time I joined in the fray.
@Really Petite: I tend to pick the same things over and over so I don’t think I’ll have to much trouble, but I’m definitely trying to avoid outfit repeats, so that might be the biggest hurdle.
Great choices! I’m really looking forward to your remixes and am particularly fond of your striped items
How exciting, I’ve always wanted to try these kinds of challenges too but wasn’t sure how well I’d do! They’re always really fun to look at though (especially if you do a montage at the end of all the outfits!).
@Linda: I’m definitely going to wear the leopard cardigan first! It’s new for me since it’s one of my sis’ castoffs.
@SewPetiteGal: I love patterns and prints, so I’m trying to incorporate them more into my outfits!
@PetiteXXS: I thought exactly the same thing and you never know unless you try…so I hope it turns out well! =)
i’m doing the 30×30 for the first time this round as well. mostly because i need to learn to make my clothes work for ME. i’m in the midst of a style journey, and this is totally helping me. hooray for us! and good for you for your serious closet purge. doesn’t that feel SO great?!

love the striped shirt! and i can’t wait to see all the ways you remix that great orange-ish skirt, so cute.
Love your 30×30 picks! I’ve yet to post any of my outfit shots due to being miserably sick all week. =( I’m loving your looks so far! You’re tiny like me. I love the focus on petite fashion here. I’ll definitely be back!
Take care!
@Brittney: I agree, I’m still learning to cement my style but it’s getting easier over time, especially since I’m not shopping lately! I love having a smaller closet…I can see my options better.
@Alli: Thanks! I love the orange skirt and I think it’ll work with a lot of other things in my 20 items!
@Melissa: Thanks! I’ll be checking your outfits out too! =)
I’d love to see 11 + 22 + 25 combo on you! I like very casual styles, and thick horizontal stripes (especially in black) would look great. For some reason I’m really into the whole “mostly black with a pop of color” look lately. Which is probably why I’d love to see that combo on you, with the brown oxfords. I’m so glad oxfords are making their way back as a fashion trend, as they’re so versatile. I need to get a pair now, now that I see them popping up everywhere! :]
