Claiming the Prize in Los Angeles

March 30, 2011

Remember my reward for completing a two month ban successfully?

Well, it’s time to claim it. I ventured over to Los Angeles to enjoy my mini-victory and a very delicious dinner.

Zagat Bread Basket
Mastro's Steak

I finally went to Mastro’s Steakhouse and I must say that this place is the BEST.

The live jazz music, the fully packed two-story establishment, and the dark velvety atmosphere creates a luxurious experience where every person feels important. The service was friendly and jovial with a quick attentiveness that you don’t expect from a place so busy. Instead of feeling rushed, I took my time to consume my steak with relish. Each bite was so tender and juicy…I could tell that this was one happy cow.

If you ever go to Mastro’s, you must have the steak and the Mastro’s Signature Warm Butter Cake. It literally melts in your mouth!

Sushi Woven Sandals
Beaded Necklaces Crumbs Bake Shop

Aside from Mastro’s, I got to visit a few friends and do a little shopping.

I went to my favorite places like Crumbs Bake Shop, Madewell, and Abbott Kinney Blvd. When it comes to shopping, I’m leaning more towards boutiques and independent brands because they have such interesting things. Instead of heading to the malls, I explored the stores along Robertson Blvd. and Melrose Ave. for fashion inspiration. Though I didn’t buy much, they’re a valuable resource for discovering new and emerging trends and designs. Plus, you get great styling advice from the well-dressed sales associates and shopkeepers.

Oh how I’ve missed you L.A.

WOO HOO!!!

I’m glad you got to celebrate. I’m not a big fan of LA, but that’s because I’m from her prettier, less fun little sister, San Diego (tho I live in Detroit now)… I will have to admit, that looks like one satisfying, fun, and delicious trip!

Next time, take me with you in your purse. I promise I’m small enough!

LOL. SD is amazing too and I wish I knew it better but I’ll try to scope it out since there are plenty of bloggers there! =)

Sounds like you had a great time! And congrats on the successful shopping ban. I’ve been trying, but seem to fail =/ But next month, I’m really going to try since my spending has gotten out of control.

Isn’t Mastro’s delicious?!! It’s like my favorite place EVER!

And Melrose definitely has great stores- too bad I can’t really afford many of them. But they have great things!
