I don’t usually have a sweet tooth, but I was craving some French macarons a lá Jin Patisserie. Since I’m no longer in LA, Pamplemousse will have to do unless there’s a better recommendation.

When it comes to inspiration, not only do I draw looks and colors from others, but I get ideas from food. The color, the presentation, and the texture created by the chefs are always interesting. I find it easier to discover new combinations from food because if it makes your mouth water, you clearly have a winner!

So now you know my little secret for coming up with color combos.
Lately, I’ve been amping up my style with some lady-like looks. I picked up this mint polka dot dress last year but it’s a bit too sweet. So I pulled all the stops to find the right mix to rough it up and make it my own.

I’m not sure if I was successful since the look is more mature than what I usually put together, but I can stash this outfit for a few years down the road. Or it can work as the outfit to wear for my friend’s upcoming wedding.
This is appropriate for a Catholic ceremony right?

I got to find a way to get rid of the wrinkles on the dress. I ironed and steamed it before wearing, but obviously, it got super wrinkled throughout the day. There has to be a wrinkle-free spray or something so it won’t look like a hot mess.

Outfit Details: Nordstrom sweater – S, Many Belles Down dress (via fred flare) – XS, Burberry tote, thrifted braided belt, random amber necklace, Payless peeptoes

Starch.
And Downy makes this anti-wrinkle release spray that you can spray on your clothes and smooth out as it dries… They make a travel size you can put in a tote. Try that. I got one at Target.
On another note, YOU LOOK SO CUTE! Like you’re dancing in the streets!

Mae Lu @ thereafterish.!
I’ll definitely check out the anti-wrinkle spray…I wasn’t sure what brand to go with, but now I know. =)
The dress is so pretty and I love you in “ladylike” pieces. I think spring/summer just make people want to dress in happy colors! And if you do find a solution to your dress’ wrinkling problem, please let me know. I have a few skirts and dresses that also have that issue!
that shade is just lovely on you! and yes, i’m sure it’s appropriate for a Catholic ceremony lol. and those macarons, yum!!! when i was in Paris last year, i bought a bunch of petite macarons to look at just cuz they’re so cute haha…
i agree with Mae Lu, i love love love anti-wrinkle releaser. i mean, i won’t solve your problem of preventing wrinkles, but it will smooth them out. i hate ironing so all i use is downy release
When it comes to religious wedding ceremonies, I get nervous because I’m never sure what’s deemed appropriate. I just know you should always cover your shoulders and maybe knees…depends on how conservative it is, right?
i totally forgot about fred flare! i used to be obsessed with their site a few years ago! love the color or the macaroons and dress!! so perfect with the necklace.

Definitely wedding appropriate! I wore a super low cut dress with no back to my friends’ Catholic wedding and I was actually a part of the ceremony – just a reading, but still… lol
I always check with the dress code because I don’t want to look too out of place and how conservative their church is…lol. But a low cut dress..wow! =)
Is that color teal? I am trying to figure out if teal would match my skin color without looking too prom-queen like. It seems to work wonderfully for you.
The dress is a saturated minty green color. But I think teal would look great on you…it’s usually the sheen of the material that lends itself to looking prom-like.
I am not of much help regarding the appropriateness for a Catholic wedding, nor any advice on wrinkle sprays. But you look super cute…with the right amount of edge!
I love all the accessories you chose!
omg, i love that dress – so pretty! i adore the color
i’m not super familiar about what to wear to a religious wedding ceremony, so i’m not much hel…and i always seem to get wrinkles in my clothes so i’m not much help there eith er(am i totally useless?! HAHA), but i just wanted to say…YUM, MACARONS!
Oooo, I love macarons ever since my friend introduced me to them. Yummy. I can hardly see the polka dots in this dress esp in the first picture….very subtle. I think it would be so cute for a wedding. I think its conservative enough although I don’t know much about religious weddings.
Your dress is so pretty! I love that shade. I think I’ll have to try the Downy anti-wrinkle release spray, too.
Re: Catholic weddings, you’re right, dress codes vary among the churches. The Franciscans don’t care as much, but the Norbertines…can be a bit strict. In general, for Catholic services, if your hemline is no shorter than three inches above the knee and your shoulders are covered, you’re good to go.
In my experience, for Catholic weddings, the dress code is not as strict. I had attendees who wore short, strapless dresses and that was completely fine (and that included my bridal party!).
i think this outfit is very appropriate for a wedding. you’ll def. be turning heads (in a good way) b/c it’s so well put together.
not sure how to get rid of the wrinkles…=/
OMG – my mouth is watering! I love the dress and don’t think that it’s too young at all – perfect for a summer wedding. Also, wrinkle-wise, have you tried spray starch when ironing? That sometimes stiffens up the material a bit making it less likely to wrinkle as you go throughout the day. Great idea to use food as an inspiration – I usually eat it too quickly to really take in the color pairings
this color is lovely on you, and would be absolutely adorable at a spring/summer wedding. the cut of the dress is not at all inappropriate at any wedding.
as for starch, i’ve used a no-flake type and it doesn’t quite do the job. i’m thinking of going all out traditional starch, especially on a lightly colored dress where all the wrinkles show

I loved how you styled it! No other suggestions, It’ll be good for the catholic ceremony
