Hope you’re all having a great Independence Day! I’ll be in Los Angeles enjoying the sun and hopefully I’ll have some wonderful photos to share when I get back! In the meantime, check out the continuing outfit recap for the 30 for 30.

I am not one that usually loves pink, in fact, I’m one of those jaded individuals who internally barfs when they see too much pink in one space. However, I picked out a lot of pink pieces in my 30 for 30 and I wore them all this week. Perhaps I’m not against pink as I originally thought…and I’m accepting of this girly color in a totally non-girly way.

Outfit Details: Fluxus top – XS, Theory Kissan pant – 00, F21 scarf, Payless pumps
Taking cues from Dash Dot Dotty, I brought out my hot pink scarf to brighten the rainy days. And I brought out my “sweatshirt” for a test spin for another casual yet dressy look.

Outfit Details: U.O. peplum blazer – XS, A+O cami – XS, LOFT skirt – 00P, J.Crew belt, Juicy Couture bag, F21 pendant, Payless peeptoes
I noticed that I tend to wear a third layer for most of my outfits despite the weather. I’m so used to adding a jacket that I feel naked without it and it makes the outfit look more polished and complete. But somehow, I’ll have to figure out a way to create outfits without resorting to another layer of clothes so I can stay cool throughout the summer months.

S. came to visit so we visited Golden Gate Park. It was such a gorgeous day that I wish we could be outdoors all the time. At the De Young Museum nearby, they had an exhibit on Balenciaga and there were so many wonderful dresses there, I could ogle them the whole day. I would’ve taken photos too but it wasn’t allowed, so if you’re in the area you should stop by or you can see where the exhibit will be headed next!

Outfit Details: Buckley Tailors (Madewell) blazer – XS, Express tank – XS, AG Angelina Jeans – 24, Payless pumps
I used to think that I wasn’t a blazer person, but it’s really growing on me. With the rolled up sleeve, the mid-hip length, and the light blue color, I could get used to it. It just makes me feel more “grown up” than heels or a fancy dress. I’m an adult, but sometimes, I don’t feel like I look the part unless I dress in a way that makes me look more mature. I’m still trying to find that balance of age appropriate outfits that are still fun and youthful.
Any tips?

It’d be interesting to hear the tips… especially age-appropriate dressing for tiny Asian women.
My fave outfit is the third one. I love the crisp blazer over the flirty, tiered top. Me, I like me some pink. Lots of pink and in all different shades lol
Wow, you have such great style! I love popping something bright on to cheer up a rainy day! And I dress how I want, probably not often that age appropriate for someone whom is 23, but I think my look is slowly maturing into more womanly dresses, but with youthful twists in the bright colours and patterns!

I’m definitely working on looking my age since most people still think I’m younger than I actually am…not that it’s a bad thing anymore. Only once I was taken to be older but they thought I had it all “together” and hence, more mature. lol
Lol on the barfing comment. I liked all your outfits and you’ve successfully integrated blazers into your outfits to the point where I wouldn’t have realized that you didn’t wear them before. Great job with turning the sweatshirt into a dressy look, too!
Hahaha. The “internally barfs” thing made me chuckle. I happen to love pink, though I admit in the past, I would shy away from bright colors. I think you look great in your blazers, and there’s nothing wrong with having 3 layers…it helps you to be prepared just in case it gets cold indoors or in the evening! I think your style is a perfect blend of age-appropriateness and a dose of fun-ness. =D
you look great in blazers! a pop of pink here and there wouldn’t hurt. especially in the summer, it’s a great way to brighten up your outfits! doesn’t necessarily have to be pink, you could wear a bright belt or something in another color!

I think a pop of bright bright pink suits you….like that neon pink Gryphon tank (I’m still thinking about how cool it is)…. and the scarf above is perfect to spruce up that greyish ensemble. I’m still trying to figure out how to look older myself when I’m turning 30 next year and still dress the same as when I was a teenager almost, but gettin there! So far, I’ve only learned the trick that blazers makes one look more wise and professional. I think jewelry can also make one more mature….but I still struggle with that cause based on the petite blogging community, it seems only pearls make one look sophisticated, but I don’t like pearls, so….still searching for other methods
A great fitting blazer does wonders to look more professional…but the key is in the fit and material. As for jewelry, I still think I’m too young for pearls…so I opt for other forms of costume jewelry and statement pieces for sophisticated. I stay away from neon and plastic pieces cuz if my little cousins would want to wear it, it’s too young for me. lol.
I love how casual but still dressy your first outfit is, especially how the pink scarf stand out from the rest of the outfit. I know you don’t like pink but it looks so good on you!

Love your outfits Jess, and your turquoise necklace is so beautiful! We’re having a great Fourth of July weekend, hope you enjoy yours in LA!
i’m the same way with adding another layer to look more put together, but with the summer weather already here in TX, i’ve just resorted to adding statement necklaces instead. otherwise i’d literally be melting!

i love the mix of patterns int he second outfit!
and i feel you…i feel soooo naked without a cardi or something to top off an outfit, that i’ve just felt really weird not wearing one the last few days, haha

Jess the pink looks great on you! I’m admittedly a girly girl but I’m more drawn in general to soft pinks
You don’t consider yourself a blazer girl? But they look so amazing on you! I also struggle between looking like an adult and a kid. I look like an adult in my work clothes with heels and all but on the weekends I’m usually in flats and while I’m not going any where special I don’t want to just throw on a pair of jeans and a tank anymore. The summer DOES makes layering difficult although I generally always carry a sweater or blazer with me since the indoors are usually freezing for me with blasting A/C. I can’t even wear necklaces really in the summer since I feel too sticky.
loved every look here, jess. hmmm…tips…you look quite mature and polished when you round out the outfit w/ a blazer or scarf so i think you’re doing just fine in that dept.
i think for me, adding a classic pearl necklace can make an outfit more “adult”.
Absolutely LOVE that first look!!!!!! I’m dying to have it. Please?
I’ll trade you for your cute day dresses. =P
ahh i thought that necklace looked familiar! you rock pants like no other but i really like you in the skirt best!
I keep seeing these 30×30 remix and I am tempted to try it! You are doing a great job with the challenge and I love the looks you’ve put together!
These are great outfit- I love them all!
