Day 13: Alexa Chung Hair

August 6, 2011

Alexa Chung is one of my favorite style icons, but not only that…I envy her hair!

My hair is finally long enough for a meager attempt to add some waves. My curling iron is still too large, so I tried a straightening iron instead. Not bad, but with a bit more practice, I think I’ll get the hang of it and perfect the unkempt look of Alexa’s hairstyle.

For a cool casual day,  I love keeping it simple and relaxed.

Nothing says that quite like my sweatshirt tee. As a movie buff, one of my favorite movies is Flashdance and that’s what originally drew me to this gray Fluxus top. By channeling a bit of Jennifer Beals, I feel “cool”…cuz I’m a big dork in real life. If only I had her dance moves, then I’d be set for life.

I tend to wear dark colors and neutrals so this pink suede bag brightens everything up!

When it comes to accessories, they are either supporting pieces or statement pieces. Supporting pieces are things like the pendant necklace that enhance the outfit but it is the not main focal point. A statement item commands attention like the pink bag with its contrasting color. It stands out against the black and gray to take center stage. Keeping these things in mind, it’s best to have only one statement piece but you can always have several supporting ones.

And that’s the quick and dirty to styling accessories.

Outfit Details: Fluxus top – XS, Nordstrom dress- XS, Free People watch pendant, French connection bag, Talbots flats

Shop: topbag, flats

Enjoy your weekend!

Your hair is GREAT! I am truly and utterly useless with mine.
That pink is one of my favourite colours and it’s so good with grey – another fav colour. Wish I had Jennifer Beals’ dance moves too – my life would have turned out quite different if I had lol!

Your hair has been looking great! Lol @ the dork comment; I’ve only met you once in person, but I definitely would not have used dork as a word to describe you. Your sweater tee is definitely reminiscent of Flashdance and I also like the dress! Loving the versatility of that pink bag, too.

Love the waves, especially on a shorter-do like yours. And that sweatshirt tee over the dress is so cute! I love the entire look.

I love that you can rock an off-the shoulder type top and still look put together and chic. On me, it just looks sloppy or like I purchased a shirt that was too big. :)

Alexa Chung hair? Yes please!

I did waves in my hair the other day where I did the ASOS outfit review, and I loved it, but because of my stupid ass perm, it takes FOREVER. I miss straight hair already.

:(

YOU LOOK SO CUTE! Seriously, YES PLEASE!
