Who remembers this show?
Well, I’m sending my salute to The House in the Clouds for an awesome blog event!

In my heyday as a tomboy, I used to wear loose shorts that hit at or below the knee almost like men’s tattered cargo shorts. It was not the most flattering look for a petite and even when I indulged in feminine versions, they tended to be capris, pedal pushers, or bermuda shorts.
I yearned to be those people with mile-long legs who can rock short shorts and yet, I deathly afraid of being caught in public with short shorts. It’s baffling how a simple garment can elicit such a strong emotion in a mature adult, but it’s true. Long story short, I bought a pair of short shorts, wore them in public, and the fashion police didn’t call me out. It was anti-climatic to say the least since nobody even batted an eye and that’s when I realized it’s all in my head. I can wear shorts and I can look darn good too.

Outfit Details: Members Only jacket – XS, Madewell tee- XS, Banana Republic shorts – 00P, Converse shoes
Shop: jacket, tee, shorts, shoes
Nowadays, I prefer short shorts over other styles. There is something so liberating about shorts compared to skirts and dresses. You can romp around without worrying about wardrobe malfunctions or proper sitting positions. I salute my shorts for all the visual length it adds to a petite frame. I may not have long legs but I can mimic the look without the physical height.
So readers, what clothing item do you salute?

i love short shorts! you pull them off well. i know what you mean, tho. i feel like im getting too old to wear shorts this shorts, but i still do it. i dont think anyone even notices
There is no such thing as being too old for short shorts! =)
I’m with you on shorts – all kinds! A lot of brands make short shorts that aren’t *too* short, which is nice – so I don’t feel like I’m getting too old for them (even though I’m out of college now).
They look really great on you!! If you couldn’t wear short shorts, nobody could, really!

LOL. Thanks, I think I was more against showing skin than having the body to wear short shorts. Still, it takes courage to wear more “revealing” clothing items.
The piece I salute would have to be the dress. I even wrote an (admittedly terrible) ode to the summer dress!
Me too, was a little hesitant to wear short shorts as it’s out of my comfort zone, but one time Ihad to do errands and decided to wear shorts and soft tee, not for long did i feel very comfortable with it since the weather also permits! I just cnt wear sneakers though, too flat, maybe wedge flipflops for me will do! Now embracing wearing short shorts but not too short! ^_^
you remind me so much of flash dance in that last pic!
Haha. I used to feel the same way about shorts. I always thought you had to have perfect butt and perfect legs to pull them off. But when I moved to DC, I didn’t really have much of a choice but to consider wearing them. And I really like them now! I also prefer short shorts, but I do have a few pairs of bermudas that I used to wear, but I don’t anymore.
Glad you got over your fear of short shorts, because you look great in them!! ^_~
Wow…love that last shot!
Lol! I do remember that show…I was more of a “Hey Dude” kind of girl, though. Remember that one? I think it played in the same time slot.
You look great! Super cute with the Converse!
I used to watch Hey Dude too…why don’t they have those shows anymore?!

I’m saluting shorts right along with you! I can’t stand bermuda shorts but I love anything shorter! I’m on the opposite side of the height spectrum and I love how much longer they make me look and feel. And, just like you said, there’s less worry about random slip-ups. I can kick, jump, dance, and do everything in shorts. Shorts are so great, they get worn UNDER dresses.
That last picture is wonderful.
Hello! I’m a friend of Fabienne’s and a big fan of the short short. I don’t like long pants I guess so lately if I’m not wearing a dresss, I’m sportin’ the short. I love the versatility and pretty much just how they look. You’re rockin’ em by the way.
