Ever since I met up with Feleciai of Art of Bathing, I’ve fast-tracked greening my beauty routine.
Knowing what’s going into your beauty products is just as important as knowing what’s in your food. Since your skin is the largest organ of the body, you should take care of it as best as possible.

Felecia gave me a behind-the-scenes tour of her Oakland studio where she creates her hand-crafted skincare products ranging from soaps to creams and more.
The studio looked like a hybrid between a kitchen and a chemist’s lab…bags of organic sugar were placed alongside essential oils and buckets of liquid soap. You can already tell that she only uses the best stuff for her products with a holistic and ethical mindset.

During my visit, I watched the creation of her signature shea butters…taking pure shea butter and mixing it with 10% beeswax to give it a smoother consistency. Aside from those two ingredients, there were no other additives.
This simple but effective recipe is what keeps her customers coming back for more. I’ve been using the Skincare by Feleciai shea butters religiously and they really soothe and moisturize my skin; it’s unlike any other shea butter I’ve tried so far.

When it comes to ingredients, less is more…less preservatives and less chemicals means more of the good stuff. Feleciai is a skilled artisan, using her nose as a guide to discover the perfect scent combination for her soaps, lotions, and creams. She is so passionate about skincare and her devotion to perfecting her craft shows through her high quality, yet affordable products.

I had a blast spending some time with Feleciai and the experience really opened my eyes to what goes on behind the scenes of making skincare and beauty products. It seems so easy and yet mainstream products make it complicated with all these additives and preservatives.
I’m a firm believer in supporting local brands but also to share products that are better for you. So stop by her site and pick up some soaps, lotions, and shea butters…you’ll love it!

Jess I love companies like this! And I love supporting local businesses in my area too. Great information, it’s crazy when you break down our products isn’t it?
