Not an Ugly Sweater Party

November 30, 2011

I get cold fairly easy and I’m wearing as many layers as possible to stay warm. But ultimately, I find sweaters quickly becoming my new best friends.

Since I don’t always want to wear my two man-repelling, but super warm cardigans…I need a few pullovers to get me through this winter season. Last season didn’t seem so cold, but perhaps I’m not remembering correctly. Either way, it’s time I bulk up my collection of sweaters.

My latest addition, the fisherman sweater, is the size of all my other sweaters combined…which also tells you how much warmer it is compared to my other sweaters. I’m not going sweater crazy, but I am looking for one more sweater, preferably under $50 and definitely under $150.

I’m loving the deep emerald color of this J.Crew sweater…it’s the front runner. But maybe cashmere is a wiser and warmer choice? Or how about ones from LOFT, though I can’t quite figure out the difference between this one and this one except that it’s made with different materials.

What do you think? What are your favorite sweaters?

I live in sweaters all year long – I even carry light ones in the summer to protect me from overly air-conditioned interiors, that’s how much I love them! :P This fall I’ve been wanting to add a cable-knit one to my wardrobe as well, and these are all such tempting choices.

Great photo and addition to your sweater rep! I adore fisherman sweaters and sweaters in general, but my attraction to loose-fitting crewnecks is not helping me in the not-man-repelling department. As for cashmere, I love it and buy it whenever I can, but it’s a bit high-maintenance for lazy me (I’m trying to avoid dry cleaning, so I hand-wash it). I just revamped and blogged a thrifted wool sweater, which I attempted to make a bit more interesting and feminine. It’s been getting a lot of wear lately, as it’s really warm and pretty cozy.

i’m loving sweaters, too! but since we typically have summery weather here, i have to look for thin ones. just got a taupe crew-neck one from old navy in a couple sizes bigger (for slouchiness) that i’m loving, and i picked up a few cheapies from f21.

If you want warm, I would go with cashmere. My cashmere is always the warmest. I love the colors of the J.Crew sweaters, but the materials aren’t that great. I just got a cashmere sweater from Bloomies that I LOVE. So soft and so warm but the only problem is that it’s super linty. It gets lint on everything!

Ooh, your fisherman sweater looks so warm and cozy! I just got a similar one from J.Crew in mustard yellow, and it has become my go-to sweater for cold weather. I actually got it in a regular XS, and the fit has been great for layering.

I’m glad I found your blog!
