Leave your worries at the door and enter a world of wonder and enchantment.
As you enter the Big Top tents of the Grand Chapiteau by AT&T Park in San Francisco, you’re transported to a carnival atmosphere pulsating with anticipation of what’s to come.
From high-flying acrobatics to comedic performances, Totem told the story of man’s evolution from our humble beginnings created by the life spark to our technological advances and exploration into space. With international influences from AmerIndians to Bollywood, African beats to Japanese taiko…it felt like I watched our evolutionary history while traveling the world in 150 minutes.
The AmerIndian hoop dance was absolutely spellbinding; from the creative costumes to the way the performers spin and slip through the hoops so effortlessly. Words cannot accurately describe how strong and powerful they seemed, how they floated and glided across the stage with such nimble grace; it’s a sight I won’t easily forget.
The fixed trapeze pas de deux was so emotional, sensual, and comedic as I watched the love story unfold between two strangers suspended several meters above the stage. The way they twisted, writhed, and flipped around each other would make anybody blush, but it felt so light-hearted and natural as if this is how it should always be.
By the end of the night, my hands were sore from clapping. As I left, I felt like I temporarily regained a sense of unburdened, childlike wonder that I didn’t even know I lost. To me, it’s important to attend these shows and performances…not just for the entertainment factor, but to remind us to take a step out of our lives and see the world in a different way.
This isn’t my first Cirque du Soleil show, but it certainly won’t be my last.

Cirque du Soleil shows are just incredible, aren’t they? I went to their OVO show a couple of years ago, and I was completely mesmerized. I would have gone to another the next day if possible
In fact, I’ve been seeing announcements for Totem a few months ago but unfortunately didn’t get a chance to go when it was in town.
I love Cirque du soleils! I watched my first one in Vegas this year! It was called Ka and it was amazing!!! I truly recommend this one if you get a chance
