From Maui to the New Year

December 31, 2011

Did you end your year on a high note?

I came close with a fantastic vacation to Maui. Once I stepped off the plane, I entered a magical place filled with bright blue skies, a lush rainforest, and clear, crashing waves along the shore. Almost every place we went, it was quiet and serene as if we were pioneers discovering this island.

We could stop by the roadside and trickle down to the shoreline or we can hike a few miles up and get a bird’s eye view of the landscape. We drove around and experienced a few micro-climates from the arid pastures near Kula to the breezy western shores of Kaanapani and the humid rainforest of Hana. Compared to the SF urban jungle and its suburban sprawl, Maui felt…open, wild, and free.

There are some things in life you just can’t buy.
