Lookbook: Double Check Gingham

January 4, 2012

One of my style resolutions for the year is to incorporate more prints and textures into my outfits. I experimented with double florals and double denim before. Now, it’s time for double gingham!

The key to pattern mixing of similarly sized prints is to have one in neutral tones and the other with more vibrant colors. One print will serve as the focal point and the second to supplement.

Another way to play with prints is by body proportion visibility. Let one print dominate 75%  of the body space with the remaining 25%  for the second print. You can play with this ratio to suit your needs but it’s a good starting point.

Shop: jacketshirt, skirt

With the new year, I’m pushing myself to be bolder about my sartorial choices and hopefully streamline my style so it represents me better. I’m always changing and evolving…and sometimes, I cycle back (my latest haircut is a variation of this one from 2010). Like a fine wine, I hope I age well with time.

What are your thoughts on gingham and what are your style resolutions?

I love the haircut! I can never seem to stray away from straight bangs. It pains me to remember that there was a time when I parted my hair in the middle without any bangs.

Humm.. style resolutions. I definitely want to be more daring with my shoe selection.

I haven’t got any gingham pieces in my wardrobe but I agree with how you would wear double textures that one needs to be the focal point while the other is the background :) Love the look on you! Style resolutions would be to wear more color!

i love the color of the gingham. i dont think i have style resolutions. maybe i should just try to not wear scrubs/ sweats >50% of the time. that sounds like a good one.

Your hair length suits you very well. You look younger.
