Lookbook: Bright Colors

When it comes to pants, I tend to wear black trousers or regular old blue jeans.

But I’ve been desperately searching for some colored pants to liven things up. I know colored denim has been everywhere lately but I can’t seem to find a flattering skinny pair from Gap, American Eagle, J.Brand, Paige, Blank NYC, or otherwise. So, I started looking into colored dress trousers to expand my options.

Outfit Details: Rag & Bone blazer, Forever 21 tank, Trina Turk pants, Beatrix Ong shoes

Shop: blazer, tank, pants, shoes

As I was wandering the streets of Burlingame, a little boutique caught my eye. Bright, vivid colors were emanating from the store display mannequins and I was drawn into the Trina Turk store. It felt like summer inside with all bold hues and cheery prints peeking out from every corner.

In my excitement, I tried on every colored and printed pant in size 0 hoping one of them would pan out. The pants with elastic waists fit quite well despite the long length. The other trousers had a bit of a waist gap but they fit wonderfully nonetheless. Plus, they were having a huge sale and the pants I wanted were considerably marked down. The SA kindly informed me that they had size 00 in some of the styles and fettered them out for me.

Guess you know the ending to this story huh?

When it comes to dress pants, Theory has always been my top pick but they usually come in neutral colors. It turns out that Trina Turk is also known for awesome pant fit and it comes in a variety of colors…so this might be my new favorite store for dress pants.

Expanding options, one brand at a time.

Wow Jess, you’re wearing these pieces so well! I love that you take pieces that aren’t “perfect” but make the look all your own!

Thanks! There are plenty of events going on…some places to look would be the Refinery 29 SF website or the SF Indie Fashion site. =)
