I always talk about showcasing local and independent designers but sometimes, the focus gets a little lost.
Well, I’m back on it!
Housed in the sleek Photobooth SF studio where tintype portraits are made, I felt like I died and went to camera heaven. From fisheye cameras to Holgas…adore!
I’ll be back to scope out cameras and maybe snag a portrait session..it’s just that cool!
Anyways, back to the brands.
First up, it’s Amour Vert. I’m sure you’ve seen a few of their eco-friendly items featured here before (1, 2, 3) and I’m sure it won’t be the last. They make super soft basics from organic cotton, tencel, bamboo, and hemp. Plus the dress collection is always chic, stylish, and super comfy…what’s not to like?
Next, Westward \\ Leaning.
This sunglasses company features a simple frame that’s inset with different materials to reflect the stories of human achievement. For example, a turquoise detail represents our Southern neighbor, Mexico…it’s interesting to hear the story behind each model as it resurfaces the past in a unique way.
The designers travel around the world and bring back handcrafted and locally sourced items like the latest straw hat collection from Ecuador or the Peruvian Alpaca fleece scarves and vests. The next stop for Cuyana’s upcoming collection is India for some beautiful silk pieces. Seriously, I wanted one of everything they had…but I settled for a Panama hat for now. (You can bet you’ll see it soon in a lookbook post.)
Please check them out and report back if you get anything!
